Isn’t it amazing how you can
go through your makeup application for months (sometimes even years) without
realising you’re missing something? I remember back in year 7 when I had just
discovered makeup, and smothered Maybelline’s Dream Matte Mousse in two shades
too dark on my face with my fingers, not knowing I needed a brush, and caked on
white eyeshadow without registering that it just looked rubbish! As someone who
thinks they’re pretty clued in about all things cosmetic, it’s always humbling
and a bit hilarious when you realise you’ve been needing a lip pencil for
months and months because THAT’S why your lipstick keeps going over the edges
and THAT’S how to stop looking like your lips are a completely random shape.
That’s where my newest and
most lovely little MAC purchase comes in. It’s their lip pencil in Subculture,
a pretty pinky/brown nude in the creamiest formula. I’m always impressed with
anything that comes off a MAC counter, so to be honest, I’d already fallen head
over feels in love with it before it landed through my letterbox!
I’ve been using this mostly to
recreate that Kylie Jenner 90’s lip craze (how slow do you want to be on that
bandwagon, Jaz?) as it’s dark on my pale skin, but not too dark. It’s a
gorgeous matte when you colour in the whole lip with it, so sometimes I just
use it as my lip colour. Also, it’s so amazing for overdrawing your lips
(something I’m new to, but absolutely obsessing over) and helps me look a whole
lot more pouty. Now I’ve started using lip pencils, I wonder how I ever coped
before!
For £12.50 it’s one of your
more purse-friendly MAC purchases, and this pencil comes in loads of shades. I’d
definitely recommend this one to my fellow pale girls, as it’s a really
gorgeous nude shade that doesn’t look too dark or over-the-top on our skin.
Oh this is lovely, it's quite similar to Spice and Soar lipliners!
