If there’s one thing I’ve grown to love over the past couple of years
spent blogging about and exploring beauty, it’s lip pencils. They were
something I always saw as pretty futile, and, having relatively thin lips
compared to most of the insta-models, I felt like it would be a waste of money
on my part. How wrong I was! I’ve recently had to part with another little lump
of cash and purchase the beautiful Subculture Lip Pencil by MAC, which has been
a firm favourite of mine for over a year now. Ever since the Kylie Jenner lips
trend took off, so many more bloggers got involved with the lip pencil trend.
Myself included! Although the KJ trend seems to have died and gone (and not a
minute too soon!), I’m still adoring all the little tips and tricks I learnt
from bloggers about using lip pencils to create fuller, poutier lips, and also
helping my nude lips to stay much much longer.
Subculture is perfect for this. It’s my ideal nude shade; cool toned,
pink, and with a subtle apricot hint. It compliments my skintone beautifully,
and doesn’t look garish against my pale skin. I find that nudes are so hit and
miss with me, but this lip pencil works wonders with so many different makeup
looks. You don’t need me to sing MAC’s praises with regards to quality, because
we all know how great their lip products are, but I’m seriously astounded every
time I go to apply this at how creamy and opaque the colour is. I usually use
this pencil as an all over colour on my lips, just because I think it’s sucha
pretty and minimalistic shade. However, if I’m going for a pouty, overdrawn
lip, it works perfectly as a liner. I draw slightly (very very very slightly, I might add) over the line of my natural
lips, and fill in with a lipstick. Usually, I go with Faux or Velvet Teddy by
MAC.
This little baby is a makeup staple I think most girls should keep in
their collection because it is so versatile and beyond gorgeous. It retails at
£12.50 in the UK, making it one of MAC’s more affordable items, and has fab
staying power and is one of the most flattering nudes I have ever come across!
Have you tried MAC’s Lip
Pencils? What’s your favourite shade?
Lots of love,
Jasmine x
This one is so pretty for us pale skinned gals! It was the first lip liner I fell in love with. You should try Bobbi Brown Ballet Pink, it's my all time fave! xo
