BLUE

You may have spotted a few selfies on my Instagram a few weeks ago. I was suddenly hit with a massive wave of creativity and I wanted to slap a bit of colour on my face. I’m usually a VERY neutral girl; browns, taupes and nudes are my go-to makeup colours, but I really wanted to try out a vibrant, vivid makeup look instead.

This makeup was partially inspired by the goddess of all goddesses; Evelina Forsell over on YouTube, who did a bright navy eye with grey lips. I also chucked in a bit of Perrie Edwards’ dots under the eyes, as I’d not tried that before either, but thought it looked really nice. Here’s what I came up with!

Products used:
NARS Pore Refining Primer
Illamasqua Skin Base Foundation in 3.5
Rimmel Wake Me Up Concealer in Light
MAC Studio Fix Powder + Foundation in NW15
NARS Laguna Bronzer
MAC Powder Blush in Taupe
NARS Deep Throat Blush
Anastasia Beverly Hills Eyeshadow in Vermeer (as highlight)
Benefit Gimme Brow in Light/Medium
Makeup Academy Silent Disco Eyeshadow Palette
Makeup Academy Smokin Palette
Revlon Colourstay Liquid Eyeliner in Black
Too Faced Better Than Sex Mascara
MAC Lipstick in Stone
Lipcote
Make Up Revolution Oil Control Setting Spray

What do you guys think? I’ve always been terrified of colour; I like my makeup to match my clothes and hair and not be too bold. I try to avoid looking like a drag-queen on quick trips to Costa or Tesco, but I really liked how this makeup actually turned out! I guess it goes to show that stepping out of your comfort zone and trying out new ideas, and taking inspiration from makeup artists you admire is a fun thing to do. I’d really like to try a vibrant pink eyeshadow look using my Anastasia Beverly Hills Modern Renaissance palette next. Just need to wait until I need to take something to the post office so I can ensure I’m suitably over-done up!

Lots of love,

  1. YAS girl, I love this look. I'm not usually a colour fan either but think this works because it's all cool-toned and fabulous.
