NYX LIQUID SUEDE | ALIEN, CLUBHOPPER, BROOKLYN THORN

Big up NYX and their eternally glorious liquid lipsticks. First, I fell in love with their Lingerie Liquid Lipsticks. And now, it would appear, I’m having a mild obsession with the Liquid Suede Cream Lipsticks. I ordered three shades from the Boots website and trotted off to pick them up. This was a couple of weeks ago, but lazy ol’ me has only just got around to doing the lip swatches.

Brooklyn Thorn is my favourite of the bunch. It’s a beautiful muted, greyish mauve that looks ah-maaazing in the daytime or the evening. I’ve worn it a few times, and it compliments a paler skin-tone. There’s so little lip swatch images on Google, and I never trust the NYX website swatches, so I wasn’t 100% what I’d end up with. I absolutely love it, though. It lasts quite well throughout the day (as long as you avoid eating food, drinking anything or snogging your other half). These lippies cost £6.50 each, so they’re fab for the money.

Club Hopper is a luscious, dark, bloody, blackened red. It’s everything I want out of a red lipstick. I don’t typically go for a vibrant, bright red. I just think that with a paler skintone, and certainly with grey hair, a darker tone looks nice and vampy. It’s a lipstick I’ve received my fair share of compliments on, and I get asked all the time where my dark red shades come from. I’d definitely recommend trying this one out. Although it’s a bit thin to apply, once it sets, it looks faaaaaantastico and looks even.

Alien is the biggest YAAAS I’ve got in my makeup collection at the moment. I used to have a MUA Black lipstick, but because it was so glossy, it didn’t get worn an awful lot. Now I’ve got this jet black matte lipstick, I’m hoping to bring out the corpse-lips on a more regular basis. The only thing with black lips is that it can make your skin look grey-ish and, ya know, dead. I haven’t found a way of getting round this, but I think it’s best to just embrace the lifeless body look. I absolutely adore it.

The Liquid Suede Cream lipstickglides on and sets into a striking matte finish” and is “velvety soft and waterproof”, according to NYX. To be honest, while I much prefer the shades of the Liquid Suede Cream lipsticks, the formula of them leaves a little bit to be desired. I adore the shades, but I wish that the application was a bit easier. They do tend to slide around when you’re putting them on. Luckily, once you’ve got it where you need it, it does tend to set and stick around for a good long while.

For £6.50, these are a great idea to have a look at. Especially if you love quirkier colours! The formula doesn’t quite live up to the NYX Lingerie Liquid Lipsticks formula, but we will soldier through these hard times. I think a little drop of Lipcote would sort it out just fine.

Have you tried these NYX Liquid Suede Cream lippies? Which shades do you think are the best?

Lots of love,

  1. I have a big love/hate relationship with these lippies. I LOVE the pigmentation and the shade range - they're incredible for the drugstore, so bold and interesting. But I hate the formula! It moves, it doesn't set, it's not transfer-proof and more of it usually ends up on my teeth than on my lips.. But they look gorgeous on camera so I'm still buying them anyway to wear for vids haha. I haven't bought any of the new shades yet, but Brooklyn Thorn, Jet Set and Alien are all on my list. I just wish the formula was more like the Lip Lingerie line! xx
