HOW I CLEARED MY SPOTS IN ONE WEEK

Gather round, friends. I have managed to clear my skin in one week! I’ve managed this without changing my diet and without adding 99 new steps into my skincare routine. I simply tested out the sk:n Facial Exfoliating Cleanser and sk:n Anti Blemish Control Serum by the clever people at sk:n Clinics. And lo and behold, I’ve got pretty smooth, spot-free and even-toned skin in a week! If you’re interested in how I found the week, read on…

Starting at the beginning, I was sent these by sk:n Clinics to try out and review, so I want to say a massive thank you to them! I received two products; the sk:n Facial Exfoliating Cleanser (£28) and the sk:n Anti Blemish Control Serum (£26.75).

The sk:n Facial Exfoliating Cleanser is a 200ml bottle full of creamy, nice-smelling goodness for all skin types. I have a few qualms with products for ‘all skin types’, because I’m skeptical that a single product can cater for every person’s skin’s needs. I personally have sensitive skin, so when I saw the label, I was steeling myself for my entire face peeling off. But it didn’t!

When I first used it I was like “what? I thought this was an exfoliating cleanser???”, because it is completely smooth in texture. I realised that the exfoliation was actually caused by the Glycolic Acid, which does actually cause a peeling action to remove dead skin cells and clear out pores. The cleanser also contains Glycerin which is hella moisturising. After using it, I felt like my skin was clean and brighter, and definitely more matte-looking. It felt a bit tight after the first use, but after that, it was absolutely fine.

Having said this, my lips suffered with dryness and soreness terribly, and I’m suspicious that the cleanser was really affecting them. Once I finished with my week’s trial of these products, my lip balm went back to working normally and they were nowhere near as chapped or sore.

I was also using the sk:n Anti Blemish Control Serum. You simply pop a bit of the serum on the spotty areas of your face. This one has about 57 different acids in it (well, it has 3 acids but when you’re not accustomed to putting any acid on your face, that sounds like a high number) and they are Malic acid, Salicylic acid and Azelaic acid. If you fancy a laugh, watch my VLOG below to see me trying to pronounce them.

All in all, I thought that the serum did its job. It slows down the oil production which can causes spots, and has antibacterial properties to keep you feeling fresh. It started fading the marks on my face from previous spots, which I loved. Though the magic really happened on day two, where a huge and gross whitehead had literally vanished after 12hrs of applying this gel.

I’d be interested to see what other products would work in-sync with these two. As I said in my video, I don’t like just applying a spot gel to the ‘affected’ areas; I’d rather have something to treat my whole face.

As a rule, I only ever buy cruelty-free products now, and I’m just slowly using up the last of my animal-tested products. I’m happy to report that sk:n Clinics’ products are not tested on animals, so they're safe for all my vegan and cruelty-free buddies!

So, the proof is in the pudding. I actually ended the week with skin that had just a few marks from previous spots, and with an all-round more balanced looking skin-tone. My thoughts are that I’ll probably use this as a really intensive detox when my skin is looking spotty and horrible. It’s a real quick-fix and it’s great to know it worked for my oily and sensitive skin.

If you’d like to watch my VLOG-style YouTube video, where I speak about how I’m finding the products day-to-day, then you can do so below. A massive thank you to sk:n Clinics again for letting me try these products!

Disclaimer: While I have been sent these products for review, this has not affected the review I have given. All products reviewed are still done so with 100% my honest opinion.

Lots of love,
Jasmine x

  1. I loved this post, especially since I’m always looking for new skincare products. This winter I’ve been breaking out so much. Are there any other skin care items you recommend?
