MAKEUP OF THE DAY + LUNCH @ CAFÉ ROUGE

Tuesdays and Wednesdays are my ‘weekend’; they’re the days I get off from university and work, and therefore the days that I can get my face on, swank about going for lunch and pretend I’m not hideously poor and moody. If you ever catch me *NOT* on a Tues or Wed, chances are, you probably won’t recognise me because I’m hobbling about wrapped in a duvet, semi-comatose and on my way (under extreme duress) to slave away at school or work. So, when I do pull my finger out and feel a bit fierce, a blog post is definitely in order. It’s a bit of an eclectic post today, but here are my makeup details and a fillet steak from Café Rouge to wet ya appetite…

Laura Mercier Foundation Primer in Radiance
Benefit Cosmetics Hello Flawless Oxygen Wow Foundation in Ivory I'm Pure 4 Sure
Too Faced Born This Way Concealer in Light

thebalm Bahama Mama Bronzer

NYX Tinted Brow Mascara in Chocolate

NYX Cosmetics Lip Lingerie Liquid Lipstick in Embellishment
NYX Matte Finish Long Lasting Setting Spray

Can I juuuust say, that I started using up my Benefit Hello Flawless Oxygen Wow foundation again because the weather is getting nicer, and I haven’t touched it since last spring! I’ve rediscovered its loveliness, and it’s going to be my foundation favourite over the next few months. It’s definitely worth getting your mitts on, if you’ve not tried it before and love medium-full coverage, weightless feel and a hella natural finish.

We visited Café Rouge in Blackheath for a belated Mother’s Day lunch with Chris’s (my boyfriend’s) Mum. We are all massive fans of French food, and the general atmosphere of Café Rouge is always a bit posh, but a bit not, and friendly and lovely and the food is always top notch. I’ve got an account with Gourmet Society, which gives me 25% off the total bill (bottles of red included), so it makes a lunch or dinner out a whole lot more affordable. Not sponsored! Just a tip for all my fellow foodies! (P.S plz sponsor me, Gourmet Society)

Chris and his mamma had the Rouge Olives as a little nibble to start. I avoided these with my life because I can’t stand olives and have declared them ‘Satan’s Grapes’. We shared the Camembert starter; warm breaded Camembert with cranberry and redcurrant sauce, and it was lush. Not what I was expecting, but delicious nonetheless.

I had my ol’ faithful, the 7oz Fillet Steak with frites for my main. I always have mine medium-rare and with peppercorn sauce because I’m basic. Some might say that this seems excessive for lunch, and I would say STFU. Chris had the Rouge Burger, and Chris’s Mum had the Smoked Cod Cassoulet which she said was amaaaazing. Of course, they’d already started to demolish the contents of their plates before the (screaming) blogger in me was able to get a picture. Why, oh why, am I one of those food-photographing-people FFS?

I hope you all had a wonderful Mother’s Day and celebrated accordingly. To all those with Mums or Grandmas who aren’t here, those who have funny relationships with their mothers and those who don’t know their mothers, I hope you all had fantastic days shared with those you love.

Lots of love,
Jasmine x
