There’s one thing that always gets me in the winter, and that’s my skin.
For some reason, my skin seems to go a bit strange in the winter, and I get
some pretty annoying, large, sore spots. I’ve not suffered with acne for a few
years now, but now I get plagued with these random, large ones which can be
pretty painful. My skincare changes with the seasons, but I do have a few
secret weapons (some new, some old) to tackle breakouts when I can feel them
coming!
Alpha-H Microcleanse
This little gem is an incredible exfoliator. It’s really fine, yet
exceptionally gritty, and you can really feel the layers of muck and dead skin
being lifted off your face. Your skin feels very smooth after rinsing it off,
and I love the softness and brightness of my complexion after using it! I find
that it combats spots really well, and minimises my oiliness for quite a while
after I use it. It’s quite an intensive cleanse, so I limit myself to using
this around 2-3 times a week, but I always love how my skin feels after I use
it.
Superdrug Witch Hazel Face Mask
This is a brand new addition to my skincare collection, and I recently
wrote a full length review on it, which you can read here! It’s incredibly good
value, and easy to grab from the high street. The witch hazel formula makes my
skin feel and look really matte. It’s also great for reducing bacteria in my
skin which causes spots, so I try to use this 2-3 times a week to keep any
gross-ness at bay. For less than £3 a bottle, I love this product and it’s
helping so much in reducing my spots.
La Roche Posay Serozinc
This is another brand newbie! It’s something I’ve had my eye on for a
little while, but haven’t ever bought it (for reasons beyond my comprehension).
It was on special in Boots a couple of weeks ago, and now I’ve bought it, I wouldn’t
want to be without it. It’s a nifty little spray in an aerosol can that you
spritz on your face to tone it. Its cooling, mattifying, luxurious beyond
belief, and it works to stop spots in their tracks. It’s incredible. Seriously,
a new holy grail product!

secrets? Let me know in the comments!

I also have oily blemish prone skin and the one product that has really helped me is using a facial oil such as Rosehip Oil or Jojoba Oil. I never thought using oil keep help fight oil but it has made a world of difference for my skin. I've also started using Serozinc so I'm excited to see some amazing results!
