I’m so unbelievably excited to be writing this post because this is a lot
of ‘firsts’ for me in one go! For starters, it’s my first ever liquid lipstick,
and I’d like to say straight off that I am in complete and utter love with the
whole liquid lipstick thing now! It’s also the first product I’ve bought from
LA Splash, an affordable U.S beauty brand, which (as far as I can tell) is
quite unknown in the UK. It’s also my very very first ‘greige’ lipstick. Greige
is a trend that I’ve seen sweeping over instagram and blogs lately, and since I
was so late on the Kylie Jenner lips trend, I wanted to be one of the first on
this one! Cue lots of research, obsessive instagram stalking and scrolling to
find the perfect shade. I eventually settled on the LA Splash OG Ghoulish Lip
Couture from BeautyBay. I fell in love immediately with the shade, and it was
made all the more tantalising because there’s barely any reviews online so far.
The packaging seems quite mid-range; a gold lid on a clear tube which
allows you to see the colour of the product inside. The lid twists off and has
one of the spongey applicators attached to the inside (I’ve not come across one
of these applicators since year 7 when I was obsessed with sparkly lip gloss).
The lettering on the tube is gold, too, giving it a little bit of a luxe feel.
The only thing is, so far, the gold top has become a bit of a magnet for
product from the inside of my makeup bag. I’m not sure if it’s me being messy
or the lid attracting muck, but hey ho!
The shade is the real show-stopping part about the product. It’s a mixture
between grey, beige and muted mauve. It’s quite different to the swatch on the
BeautyBay website, but this wasn’t necessarily a bad thing. I love the
unusualness of the shade, and the pigmentation of this product is to die for.
It’s like slathering your lips in the most opaque paint. Another thing I adore
is that it’s so easy to overdraw your lips using this lipstick. I’ve got
naturally thin-ish lips, but when I overdraw them, it doesn’t look obvious, and
the shade glides on really well just over the natural line of my lips. I get so
many compliments on the colour when I wear this, too. It’s quite an unusual
colour, so it’s a great attention grabbing lippy!
The lipstick stays for absolutely hours, and it’s even passed the kissing
test with my boyfriend. I’m serious when I say it doesn’t budge! Application is
easy once you get the hang of it, but for me (a liquid lipstick virgin), it
seemed really difficult to begin with. The lipstick dries and sets about 15-25
seconds after application, so that’s your window to tidy it up if things go a
little bit messy! Because when this stuff sets, it sets. The only negative thing I’d have to say about the lipstick
is that you need a pair of really well conditioned lips as a base. The lipstick
can feel chalky and dry, and can be uncomfortable on dry lips. Overall, though,
it’s a total thumbs up, and I’d definitely love to ty some of LA Splash’s other
Lip Coutures. I’ve got my eye on Untamed at the moment!
Have you tried the ‘greige’
lip trend? Have you tried LA Splash before? Let me know in the comments!
Lots of love,
Jasmine x
The Greige lip trend looks so gorgeous on fair skin! I'm not brave enough to try it, but you can seriously rock this look.

You've inspired me to pull this one out again! I've only worn it a couple of times as I wasn't sure it suited me but I should probably try it with other makeup & make it work. I wanted to pick up a shade I didn't have & Ghoulish was definitely that! Similar shades really suited friends, so I thought I'd try it. I really need to make it work but might have to reserve it for winter when I'm palest! Xx

I love this look on other people but I don't think I'd have the balls to try and pull it off myself. I've never tried anything from LA Splash before, good to see you had a positive experience with them! x
