Yes! You read that right!
While lurking on my favourite foodie YouTube accounts, I came across a
dude who was making pizzas with tortillas as the base. It had never occurred to
me before, and since I’ve been craving pizza like a bloody maniac for weeks, I
wanted to give it a go. So I hauled
Chris into the kitchen and THEY TURNED OUT AMAZINGLY. They only take about 15
minutes to make AND cook, and they’re so low in calories. I wanted to share my
version of the recipe with you guys, just in case you also need to satisfy
those pizza cravings without ingesting enough calories to power a buffalo.
You will need:
Wholemeal tortilla wraps
Tin of chopped tomatoes
Low-fat grated cheese
Mixed salad leaves
+ whichever pizza toppings float your boat (I used low-ish fat options like chicken breast,
sweetcorn, salami and loooooots of onion)
Method:
~ Whack up your oven to the highest it’ll go, which is usually about 240C
~ Grab your tortilla as your pizza base, smooth over the chopped tomatoes
and the juice they’re in as your tomato base
~ Add your choice of toppings as you like. I usually put the cheese on
last because it helps to glue the toppings to the the pizza.
~ Throw it in the oven on the middle shelf until the cheese has melted and
the tortilla edges have turned a golden brown. This literally only took about
7-8 minutes!
~ Sprinkle the mixed salad leaves on top for an Insta-worthy plate of
deliciousness.
It’s one of the easiest and least-messy dinners I’ve made for a while.
There are no pans to worry about, and it’s on the table 15 minutes after you’ve
decided you’re hungry. I’m terrible when it comes to evening meals; I can’t
plan ahead, so I realise I’m starving suddenly and make a beeline for the
chocolate and crisps. The best part is, there’s so few calories in this that it’s
guilt free.
All in all, I calculated my entiiiiire pizza to be 306 calories. Compared
to a single slice of my beloved Chicken BBQ Ranch pizza from Dominoes, which
would cost me 362 calories. ‘Tis a no-brainer! Give it a go; not only is it
really fun, but they taste really really good. And for all my students out
there, it’s far cheaper than ordering a pizza. You don’t end up paying £1 for
extra onion and then NOT GET GIVEN EXTRA ONION AHEM DOMINOES I’M LOOKING AT U.
Lots of love,
oo such a quick and healthy recipe! I defo need to try this out next time i'm craving pizza
